Palisman, but animal works. I'd just call him bird before I understood him enough to learn his name. I wish there was better access to books about all these different systems. It's fascinating that it just doesn't work the same everywhere. Our way of magic seems so simple in comparison. You need a source of magic to cast it, whether it's artificial, a palismen, whatever natural supply you have depending on what you are, or the world around you. Then it's just learning what you need to do to make the power source do what you want. If I could just sit down with some books, I might be able to explain the other worlds' magic too.
You'd need to make things up for that? That doesn't sound right. I can see objects and what's around pretty well. I'm used to sneaking around in the dark. But if there was a shelf full of books, I wouldn't be able to tell you what books they are. And you can also count me in that group that doesn't sleep much.
