Paul looks sympathetic. "Yes." Then he has a question of his own. "What do you mean not real?"
It would be ideal to learn when not afraid, of course, but it couldn't hurt to recite it for him. "It's a meditation. You focus and recite it or think it to yourself when you are afraid. You can repeat it after me now, and we can dig deeper into it later when you're in a safe space."
He recites it, pausing after each line so Chris can repeat it.
"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."
