Clint
It's a catch 22. Fury wasn't wrong that there needed to be a team to handle things regular forces couldn't, but Vision wasn't wrong about escalation, either.
Really? I don't know if our Clint ever did anything like that except with Nat. That's a damn good job though, pal. You can't leave the people who trust you behind.
If you were in jail, you were all betrayed. That you stuck with them long enough to keep even one on the straight and narrow, that's still damn impressive.
I've never encountered Ronin directly. But when I broke the Accords to go rescue Bucky, you came out of retirement to help me out. That landed you in jail, too. I managed to bust you out, but we were all on the run for a while until Nat or somebody worked out your pardon and you could go home. Haven't seen you since.
Pretty much. Which is why Cap was so damn useless. He punched out Hitler 200 times and stopped Hydra because it was clear what was right. Didn't know a damn thing other than following his gut. Which, I guess was the only thing he and I really had in common. But that's also what made it so easy to drop the shield and fade into the background. Sam and I did some work after, too, but smaller stuff. More obvious. It was a bit easier though, since we were already on the run from everybody but Wakanda. And Sam was always better at thinking things through, too.
I heard he's not around here anymore, but your secret's safe with me. I will say, he probably knew you'd paid him back and was just being as ass about it.
