Steve stared back even, the small smile never leaving his face. With all the familiar-not-familiar faces he'd run into or seen lately, a stranger certainly wasn't going to phase him. Even an odd one.
At the question he considered it for a moment, then let out another low laugh as he shook his head, remembering the last time he'd stepped foot in a place of worship. "It's tempting to feel that bad over a homemade cheesecake, but, I've learned to save my prayers for bigger stuff," he said, turning around to put his back to the church, as if the mental comparison had given him his answer. He glanced around and noted a small coffee vendor, setting up in anticipation for the nightlife traffic down the road nearer to the clubs and restaurants.
"I think I'm going to grab a cup of joe instead. You're welcome to accompany me if you like, unless you're headed in yourself," he shrugged. Without waiting too long he took up a casual walk. Even when he wasn't big enough to seem that imposing, he knew most women didn't like strange men lurking around for no reason.
