Yes, actually. My mother was a xenogeneticist. She worked in a lot of biological research facilities so we had numerous medical people around when I was younger. My father wanted a different path for me. He's quite traditional. But I knew I wanted to do something meaningful. Something that would improve the lives of others. Something that requires constant learning. Then I did this internship on Vulcan and — I know it's cliche to say I fell in love with it, but ... I just knew it was the right thing for me. I don't believe in fate, but I do believe in having a calling.
