Re: STEVE ROGERS
To say that Steve was feeling lost in Derleth was an understatement. In general he was quite good at hiding his true feelings. That was the cost of being in charge. Of being a leader. He had to keep up the optimism and the morale for the others. But he felt like a fish out of water here. Normally being around his teammates would loosen him up, but from the moment he arrived he sensed the tension between him and the others. And now that he knew why (most of the reasons why, anyway) he felt even more out of place. Even more lost. But that didn't change the fact that at his core, Steve was still a decent guy. Still friendly. Still trying to be strong for everyone else. And still genuinely interested in strangers.
If he did end up staying, and who knew if he would, then it would be good to build friendships with as many people as possible. That way if the animosities against him remained he wouldn't be entirely alone.
Steve had built his life anew once before. He could do it again.
"I think I actually prefer the name Delmarva to Maryland. It has a nice ring to it." And don't worry, Stevie! You're not boring him. If anything, Steve was afraid he was boring her. He was an old man, after all. "That thing you did when you licked your hand. Was that ... magic?"
