Week Eleven - Day Six Who: Darcy Lewis & Ron Weasley What: Another song Where: Outside Ellery Laboratory Warnings: tbd Status: closed/in progress Song:Magic Man by Heart
The science building didn't have anything close to the type of equipment that Darcy was used to working with, but it had some things that she thought she might be able to repurpose, so she'd staked a claim on one of the lab spaces and started scavenging for parts that she could cobble together. Working with Jane for all those years definitely prepared her for needing to get creative with lab equipment.
When she glanced out the window and realized that the sun was starting to set, she figured she should swing by the dining hall, grab something to eat, and then head back to the dorm before full dark set in. There was something unsettling about being out on campus in the dark and she preferred to avoid it.
No sooner did she step out of the building then she caught sight of a familiar figure nearby. "Ron, hey, wait up!" she called, jogging over to him. He seemed to also be on his way to the dining hall so she figured that she could join him.
Unfortunately, as soon as she was within a few feet of him, a swell of music overtook her and she groaned to herself before she started singing.
Cold late night, so long ago When I was not so strong, you know A pretty man came to me Never seen eyes so blue
You know I could not run away, it seemed We'd seen each other in a dream Seemed like he knew me He looked right through me, yeah
"Come on home, girl", he said with a smile "You don't have to love me yet, let's get high awhile But try to understand Try to understand Try, try, try to understand I'm a magic man"
Well, okay. Darcy supposed there were worse songs she could sing to her former roommate. Apparently whatever was responsible for this was being somewhat literal since he could do magic.
Winter nights, we sang in tune Played inside the months of moon Never think of never Let this spell last forever
Well, summer lover passed to fall Tried to realize it all Mama says she's worried Growing up in a hurry, yeah
"Come on home, girl", Mama cried on the phone "Too soon to lose my baby yet, my girl should be at home" But try to understand Try to understand Try, try, try to understand He's a magic man, Mama Ah, he's a magic man
Huh, she realized that the song was also kind of ironic since she was both older and more worldly than Ron, at least when it came to relationships and whatnot. It wasn't like she hadn't noticed the way his eyes nearly bugged out of his head when he saw her in her dress at Eliot's party.
"Come on home, girl", he said with a smile "I cast my spell of love on you, a woman from a child" But try to understand Try to understand Oh, oh, oh Try, try to understand Try, try, try to understand He's a magic man, oh yeah Ooh, he got the magic hands
"Come on home, girl", he said with a smile "You don't have to love me yet, let's get high awhile" But try to understand Try to understand Try, try, try to understand He's a magic man Yeah, oh
When the song finished, she did a little twirl and burst out laughing.
