The Doors get their name from an autobiography of Aldous Huxley, called 'The Doors of Perception'. It describes his experiences with the psychedelic drug, peyote. Huxley, reflects on the philosophical and psychological implications of these experiences, expounding the benefits of using the drug. He ended up dying of cancer, but his last request was to die while under the influence of LSD, which is wife dutifully administered before he passed away.
