After a particularly of being a medic in the midst of an alien invasion, the downtime that the Void provided was welcomed by Stephen. It gave some time in between adventures to recuperate and hopefully regain some lost sanity. That included sleeping in late, taking it easy in the morning, and really trying not to concern himself with what other people were writing about over the network... although the newly arrived Captain Carter's mention of a giant octopus coming through a portal was something that piqued his interest. The description reminded him of an interdimensional demon he'd read about, but even that didn't concern him. It was just intellectual curiosity, really.
In his room, beside the window, he set up an IKEA desk where he'd been reading a book taken from the campus library. He was going to sit down with his tea to leisurely spend the morning leafing through its pages, when he happened to look through said window, spotting Darcy walking along one of the paths. He hadn't seen or heard from her in a long while. Even during their alternative-self phase last week, the town doctor hadn't communicated with her. The week before that had been rough on her, exposing her heart singing karaoke with a song that reflected how much she missed Tony. When she finished, he sat with her, and later made sure she made it to her room alright. He really ought to check in with her.
Stephen took a long sip to finish the rest of his tea, set down the mug, picked up his book, and started for the door. Without needing to be told, Cloak flew over and rested upon his shoulders as he left.
A few minutes later, with the book tucked under his arm, he walked over to Darcy. He nodded at the space beside her and asked, "Is this seat taken?" If she didn't want company, he would understand, but this way he'd leave the decision up to her.
