Bryan still wasn't sure why he had decided to do this. He did love singing, and music, but sometimes the Glee kids just rubbed him the wrong way. And then there was Lonnie, who definitely rubbed him the right way. He caught a glimpse of her, as he took to the small stage. He didn't want to interrupt her time with her friends, but he figured there was nothing wrong with starting things off with a clear message.
"Glad to see at least a few of you decided to come by," Bryan granted the group a rare smile. "So this isn't Glee; you don't need to impress anyone. Just don't kill the classics and we'll all get along just fine. I'm going to start us off, to show you how it's done."
The rich piano of the song kicked in, and Bryan took a long centering breath.
"I'll never be a knight in armor, with a sword in hand, or a kamikaze fighter Don't count on me to storm the barricade, and take a stand, or hold my ground..."
It had taken him so long to get past these feelings with Lonnie. That he would never be enough, that he would somehow fail. But the song found the best in it. His voice soared along with his heart, as he poured everything into a message just for her, that only they would recognize.
"I'll be your prince, I'll be your saint I will go crashing through fences in your name I will, I swear I'll be someone to fall back on I'll be the one who waits, And for as long as you'll let me, I will be the one you need. I'll be someone to fall back on"
He silently placed the mic back in the stand, and let the piano fade out, before taking his seat near the front of the room.
