All he could offer was a half cocked smile and a nod. She seemed to understand without him saying. Things like this weren't typically actually discussed in his family, much more easily covered with snide remarks, so it made him uncomfortable to talk about it like this. Still, it was nice to know there was still someone there. Despite his nature, even Draco needed someone in his life. Though they never discussed it, he knew even someone like his father did. In the end, men of their stature were nothing without the people around them who supported them.
He took a moment to look over the spread Mòrag placed out on the table before looking across at her, tracing a fingertip along the top of the box she had set beside his plate. "You are absolutely right. We didn't exactly get to talk much the other night, did we?"
Draco picked up the box and eyed it curiously, glancing over at her as she spoke, looking somewhat thoughtful. "If they are with their spouses, then perhaps you should stay with me." He said, turning the box over in his fingers as he did so. "It would be irresponsible of me to leave you on you alone." It might have been odd, but since the engagement had been announced, he had adopted some sense of responsibility for her. It might have come from years of preparing for an arranged marriage that never happened. It would have been no different than this. She was to be his wife and he only had her best interests in mind.
After a moment, he stopped and looked back down at the box, finally opening it to see the ring inside. He couldn't help the smile that crossed his lips, looking at her across the desk. He hadn't quite been expecting something like this. "And what is this for?" He removed the ring from the box to look at it more closely, a brow raised to her.
