And yeah, The King and the Clown is not a movie to watch in bad quality chunks unless there's no other way around it. I'm so, so glad I saw it on DVD.
Jang-saeng fell into the same trap everyone did, of not fully seeing Gong-gil as Gong-gil, for all he genuinely did love the guy (in some way. Bloody hell if I know how). Angeal...is seeing Gong-gil as this little broken thing, and not at all seeing him as an equal. In a way, he's stepping into the Jang-saeng role, so things will be interesting when he and Gong-gil finally interact in a way that is more than "Angeal stares at pretty broken thing."
Gong-gil brings out the weird in people, poor thing, he really does--everyone reacts strongly to how they perceive him (the king was the worst, OMFG. Because he was batshit insane. *shudder*)
