BACKGROUND: I'm currently working on a massive High School!fic, but not an AU one, it's reincarnation!fic. And set in the USA, because I don't know enough about day to day Asian cultures to be comfortable writing one anywhere else. Gong-gil always remembers his previous lives, (but none of the others do) which sometimes leads to Terrible, Screaming Nightmares. Jang-saeng, of course, always knows. I'm a closet romantic.
~~~ 3:15.
3:20.
3:25. Too late to try and go back to sleep, but too early to get up and start the day.
Gong-gil shuddered, curling tighter under his comferter as memories he ignored during the day forced themselves to be recalled. This time of day was worst, when he was alone. Though if he wasn't alone, sleep would still be impossible. He hadn't been able to sleep around other people for at least a century and a half.
A muffled chime nearly startled him off his western style bed and on to the floor, and he reached over a fished his cell phone out of the jeans draped over his dresser.
From: Jang-saeng, 3:27 am you're awake, right
Gong-gil smiled slightly, touched and slighly exasperated.
From: Gong-Gil, 3:28 am Yes.
From: Jang-saeng, 3:28 am open your window
A few minutes later--3:32-- a mused Jang-saeng was climbing through his window and hauling something large behind him.
"Knew you'd be up," he said, looking inexplicably pleased.
Gong-gil eyed what he now saw was a gift wrapped package distrustfully, remembering other late night presents.
Jang-saeng pouted, in a manly way. "Don't give me that look, it's a good surprise, I swear."
A head-tilt conveyed clearly what he thought of that.
"Just open it."
His friend shoved the box at him, and with a quiet sigh he slit both paper and tape using his longer than proper nails. Inside was a very, very big stuffed bear. One that, when Gong-gil pulled it out, was indecently soft and squishy.
"Thank you." He didn't feel the look of quiet happiness on his face until Jang-saeng made a smug noise and looked very pleased with himself.
I own the mentioned bear, and I'm going to go take pictures of it and upload them now.
