She wasn’t as afraid as she should have been.
Somehow the golden haze of intoxication softened everything, made her warm and slow and bubbling with heat—even the long rough edges of his scars, the hard weight of his hands and his shark-sharp eyes. She remembered watching him bathe in blood and clutching herself at the sharp, rasping blood thirst of his laughter, heart trembling in her throat.
Amazing, she’d whispered, and she’d meant it.
And this, dizzy and drunk in her throat, at the base of her spine, was just as rich. Carbonated, even. Like she was…
The thought slipped away.
His hands were broad enough to span her waist—big enough to break her, and ungentle enough to bruise. Miranda made sounds, liquid and curiously disconnected, yelped when his fingers rasped against thin and sensitive skin, on the inside of her thighs—pausing there for a second on her wild pulse, a savage smile twisting his mouth even through his own disorientation—whined through her teeth when he thrust against her.
He was unkind, the roughness of every motion pressing against slicked and sensitive tissues. She gasped through pain, shuddered against drug-driven pleasure as it translated into her own nerve’s natural reaction, body tightening slick and insistent against his. Muscles in her thighs flexed, stretched, and his teeth caught in her lip. Things were hazy, time thick and heavy as golden syrup—a flash of his big body over hers, muscles in his back working, hips driving against her, another flash of an I’m sorry tearing frantically through her teeth as she clawed at his skin and drew an animal snarl of laughter.
Then things got a little hazy. At least until Rinali found them in a pile of Komui’s wayward discarded inventions, at which point excruciating clarity emerged.
