Basically, half my house was in my basement. I have what's technically an 800 square foot house, since they don't count basement square footage. And it was built in 1926, so there is NO closet space. So one of the basement rooms was my costume shop/sewing room and closet; another was the office while I had the upstairs room rented out, which means all my photos and papers were down there; another was the living room; the last was the laundry room, not counting the Demon Bathroom Closet From Hell that people literally have to see to believe (it's the width of its door, six feet deep, and the toilet is perched on a stand three feet off ground level so you have to crawl onto it -- and then crawl BEHIND it to get to the five-and-a-half-foot-high shower behind it which is what let all the sewage in... sigh)...
