Prompt/challenge you're answering: Homura and Yun, so much for so little

Things were still sort of awkward between Chris and Homura after their run-in outside city hall with the red-tape demon, so Yun preferred to meet with the other magical girl alone. They could talk together about things that Chris preferred not to dwell on or didn't understand. Yun often came off as the gentler of the two, but they both fought with one special girl in the center of their thoughts. Mami said they were nearly two of a kind.

They met together on the grass of the nearby park to sit and eat lunch on Sunday. Yun's bento had been made by her older sister. Homura had made her own.

"That..." Homura pointed at a small hotdog cut into the shape of an octopus, "That's so cute."

"Do you want one? Go ahead," Yun offered. She was aware of how fortunate her life had been, surrounded by the love of her two older sisters, Chris' loveably serious care, and the benediction that Madoka's ascension to goddess-hood had brought her. She had faced her share of troubles as a result of making a contract, but she had known the risks from the start. Contracting ran in the family. Her own mother had been a magical girl herself, though Yun knew this only from the testimony of her sisters. She had been too young when Ayuna died to truly remember her.

Chris always marveled at how Yun seemed to take everything in stride without any regrets. As he was a rare magical girl in her easy-going nature, she felt that, to a degree, it was her responsibility to try and ease the burdens of others she met.

Homura was better at accepting kindness now. In the past, Yun's behavior might have rubbed her the wrong way, but now she was happy, not just for the small things, like sharing lunches, but... Yun was the only other magical girl Homura had met who knew about what Madoka had done for all of them, although she had never met Madoka during her life as an ordinary schoolgirl. It came about as a result of her powers, she assumed, since they focused around the ability to see, hear, and comprehend that which generally could not be seen (her skills weren't very offensive, so on her own Yun had to be careful- without another magical girl to back her up, she found herself caught up in power-draining stalemates where she could predict and ward off every enemy blow, but be able to strike at the witch's- no, demons now- the demon's weak point on her own).

"I dream about Madoka sometimes," Homura admitted. "You know, sure I did a lot for her, going back through time...and I guess, technically, she wouldn't have been able to make such a powerful wish without my assistance, but I feel like what I did, compared to what she did... Well, Madoka gave all the magical girls out there the better part of the bargain."

"Heh heh, on a much smaller scale, I feel that way about Chris sometimes. She's so strong and heroic and goes out her way to protect me. What can I really do for her?" Yun giggled, then allowed her self-centered thoughts to give way to a wider-seeing seriousness, "I think, in a way, Madoka's probably waiting for you. The thing is, Homura, she's a goddess. She can wait forever. She has all the time in the world. She gave you your life, to use however you want. To continue to fight. ...To continue to love."

It was cheering to hear. Homura smiled. "When you meet Madoka someday, I know you're going to like her, Yun. I'm sure she already likes you."

"You try to act tough, but you're really so sweet, Homura!"
