Title: Knowledge Author/Artist: shiegra Fandom: D.Grayman Pairing/characters: Rinali Li, Anita Rating: PG13 Prompt:* The beginning of Rinali and Anita's passionate love affair. A/N: I'm not sure exactly how this fits with the prompt, but this was what came to me when I was pondering it. Eek.
There is something that Rinali will always know Anita taught her, not her brother or Allen or anyone else she’s cared for—and she’s cared for many, deeply and passionately and painfully when they are lost.
It is the knowledge of eternity.
She remembers sitting together, Anita’s slender white hands stroking through her hair, as the ship rocked gently around them, cradling them in the midst of the restless waves. She’d asked her if she believed the man she loved was still alive, and there had been a curious, richly restrained note in her voice when she said yes, a deep emotion that was not passionate or fervent love but deep and cool and abiding, an endless patient anticipation.
And Anita’s hands had been on her skin and she had bent and breathed out—a slow rueful sigh—and said, into the soft darkness of Rinali’s hair, “for as long as I live, I will never be able to relinquish that.”
And Rinali had known, for a second, the emotion that was eternal no matter how damaging. She thought she might have felt it, fingers slipping away as rain touched her face and Anita kept her hand up, smiling luminously even as the knowledge of death echoed down their skin and her eyes glowed dark with pain.
