WHO: Maverick and Mellie WHEN: May 1st. Afternoon WHERE: Mellie's house. WHAT: Talking about stuff.
Maverick was at his wits' end. He understood that what Melusine had been through had been awful. Beyond awful, honestly. It was traumatic and terrifying and enough to break even the strongest of men. Hell, Ajax had brought all of the leaders of No Man's Land to their knees in one fell swoop. He had broken one of the strongest, the Lion's Rex, in a devastating way. It was enough to make anyone weep, make anyone doubt their own safety and abilities. While he understood this, he couldn't quite wrap his mind around why she was avoiding him. Maverick had been able to see her when she'd been returned, albeit briefly, while he was waiting for his twin to wake up. As of now, several weeks later, he hadn't seen her since. There had been texts and calls but any attempts to visit were skirted by his girlfriend. Frankly, he was beginning to feel concerned he was the real problem.
Rather than texting or calling to ask if he could come by, something he was certain would result in Mellie telling him it wasn't a good time, Mav just decided to take a chance. He knew it could very well backfire, in fact it more than likely would, but he had to try. He missed seeing her face, missed the way she smiled, missed the sound her laugh. Even if she didn't want to talk just being beside her and able to wrap his arms around her would be enough. Maverick just hoped she didn't get too cross with him for just surprising her. This was where his inspiration for the flowers he had in his hands came in. He remembered how much Mellie had loved her when he surprised her with flowers in the past and hoped it would do at least a little to cheer her up.
Arriving at her door, he raised a hand to knock, trying not to let his nerves get the best of him as he waited.
