WHO: Christian and Ryker (and Maverick!) WHEN: April 8th. WHERE: Christian's place. WHAT: Brothers.
Christian was not the type of person who dwelled on the negative or let himself get lost in pain or panic or fear. He had gone down that rabbit hole once, after his sister had died, and it had nearly destroyed him. It was those kinds of feelings that had finally overwhelmed Melissa too, which was why he worked so hard to learn how to process them and deal with them properly following her death. Despite all he'd learned and how far he'd come, however, Christian had been a wreck during the week his brother had been missing. He hid it fairly well, though had learned by now not to completely pretend like everything was fine. Not only did that not help the feelings it only made it feel like you were completely alone on top of everything else, which had a tendency to create resentment. He'd done what he could in his position at the Pard, as always, and offered advice or opinions when the king and queen asked for them. There were also days that he had to reach out to them and ask for some time away, time where he'd go to his best friends and bandmates and girlfriend and just let everything out.
Now that Ryker was back, well. His emotions felt like they were too big to be contained in one body. His head was still filled with the gruesome scene Ajax had put on for everyone, his heart aching for Tye and Kat as he watched the heartbreaking tragedy unfold. He'd wanted to run on the stage and stop the monster after that bat had connect with Alana's head but seeing his brother on his knees and bloody had stilled those urges. Alana was a friend, someone close to Collette also, but he couldn't intervene. He felt like a coward, more so when Tye was forced to choose who would die, and it was a nightmare that Christian wasn't likely to forget anytime soon.
Once they'd gotten Ryker out, safe, Christian hadn't left his beside. Maverick had come by a few times but with his twin being unconscious he was shooed away by Christian. He knew Maverick's girl had been taken too and urged the younger man to check on her in the meantime. Christian would let him know when their brother woke up. Nobody thought to try and convince him to move or stop sitting idly there and Christian was grateful for it. He just needed to see Ryker's eyes open for himself before he could take a break.
