Another night away from home almost felt like a fairytale. This one wasn't sanctioned, however, so Tam felt a bit like Cinderella when she found her way to the ball. Mellie had helped her get ready, while her step father and brothers were still out, then disappeared by the time they returned home. After checking in on her as they normally did, the swan merely fed them a story about working earlier in the evening to explain her attire. Being the dolts they were, and satisfied with her making them more money that they didn't need, the men left her alone. This was when Tam sprang into action. She had a well laid out escape route, one she'd made use of countless times yet they still didn't know about, and was soon down the trellis that ran along the outside wall by her room. It was impressive all that she managed while wearing a dress, but Tam didn't have time to stop and pat herself on the back. If they caught any noise outside, they might go upstairs and investigate her whereabouts to ensure she was safe, which would mean they would figure out she wasn't practicing as the stereo she'd left on was supposed to imply.
Excitement and adrenaline carried her swiftly to the designated meeting place, and she wasn't surprised when she arrived with ample time to spare. Tyr was not usually one to arrive early, giving her time to smooth down her hair and skirt after the hasty yet daring escape. Nerves gradually replaced adrenaline the longer she waited, however, making her heels tap anxiously on the pavement outside the Book Nook. Tam wasn't worried about being caught here, as the tyrants who ran her life never came to this part of town, but it had suddenly occurred to her that she was actually going on a date. Clasping her hands together to try and stem the flood of insecurities that threatened to overwhelm her, Tam started to hum softly. Singing and music always soothed her when she was frightened or upset, and it was one surefire way to distract herself from thinking of all the reasons Tyr was too good for her and should just stand her up.
Hopefully he wasn't late or else she might have a nervous breakdown.
