"What do you mean, all the other girls?" Warren was truly taken off guard by the statement. If anyone had been watching him back then he'd been completely oblivious to it. "I knew all the ladies loved Logan though that one still makes me scratch my head. What is it about that guy? Is it how much of a charmer he is, or maybe the constant smell of cigars? Enlighten me, please."
He wasn't exactly sure how he'd gotten be as close as he was to Kitty but knew he was thankful for their friendship. She was one of the very few females in his life that wasn't trying to out-do him at work or trying to sleep with him. It was a simple and pure friendship that was worth a lot to the winged mutant. "You're like a brain with legs," he teased. "Of course you're in love with knowledge. Maybe you and Hank should hook up. You could drink tea and have stimulating conversations until the sun comes up." He winked as he pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant. "I suppose we can wait for warmer weather."
Kitty's door was opened for her, as was Warren's. He gave the valet his keys and received a ticket in return. Warren stuck it into the inside pocket of his suit jacket before offering his arm to Kitty. "It's still in negotiations," he answered with a slight frown as they walked inside. "In order to settle out of court we have to get depositions from everyone who willingly went to the clinics. There are thousands of names and information still to go through, and then we have to find them all. Rogue is actually on that list if I remember correctly. We had no luck finding her for awhile. She was using some kind of alias in New Orleans. Ororo found her before we did."
He smiled at the hostess as they paused for Kitty to hand her coat over to the checker. "Worthington," he told the hostess. She scanned her list, found his name and smiled, telling the couple to follow her. The restaurant was more old Hollywood than anything else. Tables were small and scattered to encircle a raised platform where a beautiful black grand piano was being played by a handsome older woman. Booths, cozy and intimate, lined the walls. They were led to a table close to the head of the piano. Warren gave his thanks and pulled out Kitty's chair, making sure she was comfortable before sitting himself.
"So, what do you think?" This was his favorite place in all of Westchester County, and he came by every time he was in town. Sadly it was not as often as he would have liked but there was now potential for that to be changing. "Maybe a dance after dinner," he suggested with an endearing smile. There was certainly enough room for it. "You don't have to have some piece of paper from a school or train with Russians to know you're good at what you do, Kitty. If dancing is your flying, you'd be crazy not to pursue it." He picked up the menu and opened to the beverages with a slight grimace. "I appreciate you, too. But I have to say I'm not completely comfortable with you using Magneto's first name like you two are buddies."
A waiter came over to greet them and take drink requests. Taking the initiative, Warren ordered a bottle of Castiglione Barolo. When the waiter was gone his eyes traveled the menu looking for something he had yet to try. "I don't really think Ororo has lost it, I think she's just trying to cover everyone under what she deems acceptable protection or education. I don't know a lot about this Lorna girl but if Ro believed Magneto was the only person who could help her?" His brows rose in a shrug. "I can see how she came to the decision she did even if it was not a wise one."
Hearing some people left wasn't all the surprising. Especially Logan. The guy did what he wanted when he wanted. No one was ever going to try and stop him. "You don't have to explain why you stayed to me. It's noble to stay in my opinion. But it's common sense to leave." Warren sighed. "It's a lose lose situation no matter how you angle it." He found what he wanted and closed the menu. "Yes, really. I could be back in a couple of days if Ororo is okay with it. I'm not needed at the office nearly as much as I'm there and I think I could be more productive at the mansion anyway."
