Kitty gave him a sarcastic smile and shook her head. "I never watched you like that. I wasn't like all the other girls, always watching you with a dreamy sigh or crushing on Logan...so much. There was a crush there for awhile, but because he was teaching me so much. Anyone who can teach me the way he did will undoubtedly have an effect on me." She gave a dramatic sigh and said, "I'm in love with knowledge."
It was close to two years ago when Kitty was in New York City and accidentally ran into Warren. They'd decided to go get coffee together and it had become a somewhat regular thing. Though they hadn't really known each other at all at the mansion, as adults they found they could really have good conversations and be comfortable with one another. By now she was used to his teasing and didn't mind it at all. In fact, the nervous butterflies she'd been struggling with earlier were no longer there. "I would love to go up with you some day. I'd like to wait until it's a little warmer, though, if it's all right with you."
Her nod was silent as Warren talked about stresses at the company. Though she couldn't fully empathize, she could understand just wanting to get away for awhile. It was the same for her tonight. What with the encounter with Deadpool in the rec room, her missing papers, and Magneto being around all the time, this was a time away for her as well. "I remember in January you said that Worthington Industries was trying to work on some kind of lump settlement for the first round of cured mutants. How did that go?"
Kitty shrugged lightly and squeezed Warren's hand in return. "Thanks. I think I'm pretty good...I mean, I'm not Julliard graduate or a Russian ballerina, but I know what I'm doing and..." She trailed off with another shrug. "It's hard to explain to someone who isn't a dancer. When I dance it's like..." A wide grin lit her face. "It's probably like flying is for you. It's a time when I feel untouchable and so free. And usually I can get my head in it no matter what the surrounding circumstances are. Even if I had just come from seeing Erik, I shouldn't have been distracted." Still, she appreciated what Warren was saying. "Thank you for being so encouraging without coddling. I have always appreciated that about you."
She looked out the window, watching people on the street as the neared downtown. "Yeah, that seems to be one of two opinions on the matter. Either you think Ororo has lost it but support her out of respect, or you think she's lost it and leave." Her lips pursed slightly. "Rogue and Logan left, though I can't really blame them." Her history with the old man was not nearly as complicated or intense as theirs was. They had every reason to be upset about his being there and leave. "I just can't leave the kids like that. I do understand, even if I don't support it." With Warren suggesting her come back to the mansion, Kitty turned her head to look at him and gauge the seriousness of his proposal. "Really? Warren, I think that would be great in all honesty. Ro would surely appreciate your being there and I would be thrilled of course. We could have coffee more than twice a month!"
