It wasn't a date, Kitty reminded herself as she looked in the mirror. This was just dinner between two friends with a little business, or possible business, thrown in. Warren told her to dress closer to formal than casual, and perhaps that was what made her stomach feel like there were butterflies in it. She decided to go formal and fun at the same time, choosing a black, white, and gray cocktail dress with a black bolero jacket. With her makeup satisfactory, she applied a coat of gloss over her lipstick, slid into her black heels, and left her room.
She'd texted Warren just a few minutes ago to let him know she was running late, and he told her he'd be down visiting with Ro. So that was where she headed. Some students made comments, others just watched her pass. Kitty was a jeans and once in awhile skirt type of girl unless she was in a recital or something special was going on. They all knew nothing was going on, so whispers as to where their mousy computers teacher was going began rippling through the mansion almost immediately.
Ororo's laughter was the first thing she heard as she drew closer to the open door of the office. That was a good thing to hear. It had been awhile since she'd heard Ro's laugh sound so light and carefree. Warren's warm voice soon followed, giving Kitty's nervous butterflies a prod. She smoothed out the skirt of her dress before knocking lightly on the door frame and entering. She smiled at Ro before looking at Warren.
"Sorry to keep you waiting. I'm ready whenever you are."
