"Memory serves, I'm always one ta keep my promises." He smiled at her and watched her as she opened the door. Logan followed up right behind her, trying not to notice exactly how much she'd grown up. "Temporary huh? Thinkin' about leavin'?" Logan took in his surroundings, looking the place up and down. "Well, this is a five star resort compared to mine." But then again, Logan had never needed much and liked to keep the lowest profile possible.
Logan watched her as she removed the coat, she was still pretty damned covered under it. Come summer time and she'd be sweating bullets. "Yeah, I'll take a beer." Logan rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Yeah, a pussy." He was never one to sugarcoat and called it like he saw it. Bobby liked things nice and neat, uncomplicated. Nice idea, but that wasn't how life was. Reaching his hand out Logan wrapped his fingers around the cold bottle and popped the cap off. "Exactly, with one good plan we could take care of him. Hell, we could probably manage with a half ass plan." Logan furrowed his brows as he watched the wheels in her head turn. "I'm sure we're not. But we're the only ones that are gonna stand up and do somethin' about it."
He took a long pull of the beer, not his preference, but he'd deal. Logan couldn't help but watch the way she moved around the kitchen. This wasn't the life she deserved. Marie deserved to have a little house, a man who loved her and kids running around, maybe even a dog. But instead she got dealt the hand of being denied simple human contact, the most basic desire anyone with a pulse had was taken from her and turned into unspeakable horrors.
Logan smirked at her. "Who needs a prince, when ya got a Wolverine?" She talked big and he had to respect her for it, but he knew that girl he'd rescued so many times was still in there and she still needed her knight in armor fantasy. "Ain't nothin' wrong with needin' protected and rescued every now and then. Hell, think my life would be pretty borin' if it were any other way." She started playing with a necklace and he raised a brow. "What's that?" Another long pull from his beer. "Nah, wouldn't bother me you doin' the flirtin'. But if they got touchy, then I'd take 'em out back."
When she disappeared for a few seconds and came back he noticed the gloves were gone. Didn't make him nervous at all. "Well, guess that's the blunt way of puttin' it." Logan sighed and raked a hand through his long hair. He didn't want to get into this. "He knew.. everything about my past. Said he didn't and I never found anything out from him. Jean.. Phoenix.. doesn't matter. I know it's the truth, Xavier admitted it."
Setting his beer down he licked his lips. "Can't fool me Marie.. I can see through those eyes of yers. No shame in lovin' somebody." He looked thoughtfully at the counter. "Shame on them fer not lovin' ya back the way ya deserve." His brows furrowed, none of this did he remember from his contact that he'd had watching her. "You did?"
Worry filled him as he watched her. Something was wrong. Logan got up and went to her. "Marie?" His voice was soft, smooth as velvet. "You okay in there darlin'?"
