"Promises, promises," Rogue chuckled. She pulled the keys from her jacket pocket as they approached her building. Once she unlocked the door, she hit a switch for the hall light and led Logan up the stairs that led to her apartment. This door had to be unlocked as well, and once it was, she pushed the door open. "Home sweet temporary home." She tossed her keys on a side table and flicked on the lights. It certainly wasn't a grand place: they'd come up into a medium sized kitchen with the living room off to the left, as well as the bathroom, and two bedrooms to the right.
Shrugging off her coat, she tossed it casually over a hook on the coat rack and asked, "Want a drink?" Not that she really needed an answer to that question. She'd never known Logan to turn down a beer, even if it wasn't quite to his standards. "Bobby was just trying to keep the waters still. You know how he can be." She pulled a bottle of Sam Addams from the refrigerator and placed it on the breakfast bar. Her mind was obviously working over what Logan had suggested. "You know, we probably could. I mean, really, who else would we need?" Especially when...but then the unpredictability of, well, her in general, might be more of a hindrance than a help. "You know we can't be the only ones spittin' nails over his bein' there. I'd put money on easily gettin' enough people on our side to throw his wrinkly old ass to the ground."
Not wanting a beer herself, Rogue put the kettle on the stove. She tucked her hair behind her ear as she turned to lean on the bar with a sly smile. "I learned a thing or two from you. Decided I was done waitin' for a prince to come save me. Bout time I learned to save myself." She grabbed her necklace and played with it without thinking about it. "Logan, you bein' a bouncer at my bar would drive all my customers away. A girl's gotta do a little flirtin' to get any real money these days." Though the idea was amusing. And tempting. Anytime someone with an obvious physical mutation came in, her blood pressure went up. If Logan was nearby she'd be able to relax a bit more.
She wasn't too sure what to think about the whole clone thing. The idea of it gave her the heebie jeebies. Letting her necklace go, she sighed and straightened so she could at least take off her gloves. She almost said that Jean had come back from the dead once but caught herself before the words were out. "Ever since Ro let Magneto in, I've had this secret hope that Scott and Xavier are somewhere watchin'. An' now that this has happened, they're just waitin' for the right time to come in an' shake things back up." Her smile was wistful. "I still got little girl dreams of bein' saved, I guess. Maybe I'm not as grown up as I like to think I am."
As the water heated to the quiet hiss of a simmer, Rogue tossed her gloves into her room before grabbing a mug from the cupboard. Even as she walked to the closed door of the pantry, she kept her eyes on Logan most of the time. "You mean he lied to you?" The question made her brow wrinkle. She grabbed a tea bag and returned to her empty mug. "About what? How did you find out?"
The issue of Remy still hadn't been addressed, and Rogue turned her back on Logan when she finally answered his question. She did have hot water to pour, after all. "Far as Remy goes...I wouldn't say I'm in love with him. I mean, like I said before. He saved me." She turned back around with a shrug. "That stays with a girl." Green eyes lowered to the counter top, unfocusing slightly. "I had a guy wantin' to marry me for awhile. A nice guy, too. His name was Austin. He was the type of guy that bought me flowers an' made all kinds of promises." Except she'd never had anyone in her life named Austin. She just didn't realize the memory wasn't hers. "He found out I was a mutant, though, an' it was all over."
She looked at the tea cup in her hands, and confusion took over her expression. What had she been doing just now?
