It was the hardest thing to keep her cool and not bust out laughing, but Rogue managed to keep her amusement to herself as Logan steered her right past the irritated blonde. The yelp of surprise she gave when Logan's hand squeezed her was a genuine one, and this time she couldn't keep the humor out of her eyes when she looked up at him. Playing right along, she reached up and took a fistful of his shirt, marking her territory as he was marking his. "Sugar, it's you I'mma be worried about. Don't you know what they say about us redheads?"
Out in the cool night air, Rogue could contain herself no longer. She threw her head back and laughed, glancing back as the door closed just once. "Wow," she said once she had that out of her system. "If you'da done that when I was seventeen, I'da died a happy girl." She elbowed Logan playfully in the ribs before settling comfortably into his arm around her. The last thing she'd been expecting tonight was to be enjoying herself to any degree. Then again, she hadn't expected to run into Logan, either.
"What brought me out here?" The humor remained on her face, though it was clouded by a searching look. After a minute, she shook her head and laughed. "I have no idea. Some guys were talkin' about it at work, payin' me no mind of course, an' I felt like I had to come check it out for some reason. Maybe somehow I knew you'd be there." Except she hadn't known that at all. It was just a gut feeling like she had to see this place for herself. Later the details would be even fuzzier, but she wouldn't really care the anymore than she did now.
She sighed and nodded knowingly at the not-so-veiled comment about Erik being at the mansion. "'S why I left, too. Ro an' I got into a good fight about it an' I told her if he was stayin', I was leavin'. Couldn't very well say somethin' like that an' not stick to it." Her lips pursed slightly. "You know he had the nerve to come an' talk to me while I was packin' up my stuff? Accused me of abandonin' the struggle for mutant freedom or somethin'. Told him what I thought of him and how I wouldn't be far because I knew it was only a matter of time before his shit hit the fan. The man has had seven years to plan what he'd do if he ever got his powers back. Ain't nobody gonna convince me he wants to just use 'em to help out a little girl now."
She sounded a little bitter, but really, Rogue had a right to be. The man wanted to kill her when she was just a young teenager. That wasn't something a person got over real easy. "You go back to kill him, I'm goin' with ya. Better believe it."
For a moment Rogue was silent, just listening to the sounds of their footsteps on the pavement and enjoying the warmth of Logan's body beside hers. When she looked up at him, she said, "I'll work on that whole trust thing." It just felt like everyone she let in let her down in one way or another. It was hard to give trust away when people broke it so easily and so frequently.
"So, stud." The laughter returned to her voice. "Where are ya takin' me?"
