"I didn't know that." She didn't fully understand was a denomination was either, but she could pretty much guess. "I didn't have any place in mind. Are there as many churches around here as denominations? Because if there are I don't know how I'll ever be able to pick one." In her head the idea had been very simple. Now with the idea of having to sort through different places and pick one, June knew it was a little more complicated than getting dressed up and driving off on a Sunday morning.
"Maybe I should just be Jewish since you are. Then you'll know if it's a good church or not." June had no idea the differences between the different religions. She'd never heard the terms much, except she knew the Jews were slaughtered in the last World War.
"When I was still living with my mom and dad we moved around a lot. Most of the time we were staying in hotel rooms and we never brought our own stuff. Well I learned to read when I was four and liked chapter books by the time I was six. Reading was a good place to go to get away from what was happening. I loved it as much as I loved school. But we moved a lot and I never got to keep more than a couple of my books.
"The Bible was in every place we went. That and the phone book. So I started reading the Bible and I've been reading it since I was seven. A lot of it I don't understand but what I do understand is nice. It makes me feel good. And one of my teachers at my last school said if I had questions I could write in my Bible or circle things and highlight them." She sighed. "I have a lot of questions. Some places, it looks more like a notebook than a Bible."
