June couldn't help but smile at that. It was as good as being told she was needed. "I'm glad I'm here, too. If I wasn't then I wouldn't know how to dance or play the piano. I wouldn't be learning as much because the school I was going to kinda sucked." She smiled apologetically. "I'm just telling the truth. Plus I'm allowed to play here and bake and stuff. This place is more like home to me than any place I ever lived with my parents."
She knew she'd get resistance but wasn't prepared to take no for an answer. "I won't tell, I swear. And I don't think Miss Cassidy will tell. She likes me and she's your friend. Besides, it's not like you're a boy. You're Kitty. Professor Munroe knows that you and I are different from the other girls. Please." She was dangerously close to whining and didn't care. "Please. You can read to me like you used to and I'll fall asleep, and then I'll go back to my room when I wake up in the morning." She took one of Kitty's hands in both of hers, whispering one more time, "Please."
