Her demeanor brightened visibly at the thought of Kitty having her own studio. June started taking ballet a few months ago but stopped going once Kitty was fired. It would be great to get back into dancing, especially if Kitty was the owner as well as her teacher. "Maybe if I get good enough I could help teach, too!" Sure, there was probably the small issue of money and unimportant stuff like that, but these things always had a way of working themselves out. If Kitty was an X-Man she was probably rich anyway.
"I know you care about me," she said after a long moment. "Sometimes I just have to be reminded." At least once a day would be nice but she'd never ask for that.
She watched Kitty touch her face, then got to her knees on the bed to be more at eye level with Kitty. She reached over and ran a finger down the diagonal line across her face, a thoughtful expression in her eyes. "It's not as bad as it used to be. I can almost forget it's there." The skin felt different, a little rougher but nothing too bad. She knew there was a worse reminder to Kitty's torso. "Scars are just part of our story."
Sitting back on her heels, June sighed and nodded her acceptance of Kitty's words. "I guess I can show you my scares, then, too." She was more embarrassed by them than anything else and the shame showed on her face even as she turned her back to Kitty. She reached around behind herself to grasp the hem of her nightgown, glad she was wearing pants underneath as well. That would spare her some humiliation at least. As she lifted her nightgown, the air hit her skin and made her shiver. She was glad she wouldn't be able to see Kitty's face when she saw the damage for the first time.
