It was late, but not so late that Kitty would be asleep. Terry was another matter, fast asleep on the other side of the room. It was a marvel to Kitty that Theresa couldn't sleep without some kind of noise, but once there was noise, she could sleep through almost anything.
Kitty sat in bed, working on her laptop, doing a little research for an idea she'd had a few days ago when the knock to the door came. She glanced at the clock and frowned. A knock this late would only mean one of the girls was having an issue. If it was anyone else, they would have just texted her.
Setting her computer aside, Kitty got up and crossed the room to open the door. Seeing June standing in the hallway, obviously upset, had Kitty's brow winkling. "June?" She glanced at Terry. "Theresa's asleep." Still it didn't stop her from letting the younger girl into the room and leading her over to her bed so they could sit and quietly talk. "What's the matter, June Bug? You look like you've been crying."
