Kitty was finding she could spend more and more time on her feet as the days passed. The poison from her injuries prevented them from healing as quickly as any normal wound would, but she was making progress. Some actions still pained her; a startled jump, a cough or a sneeze, even laughing too hard. And she was still rather self conscious about the long diagonal cut across her face, thought that, too, was fading.
Being her first Saturday free from employment outside the school, Kitty was feeling restless and was subscribing to wanderlust. She told herself the laps she was taking in the halls were like physical therapy and not an inability to sit still. It was during her third full trip around the facilities that she spotted the boy sitting in the foyer. His face was not familiar to her and he looked bored out of his mind. Kitty touched her face, bit her lip, took a breath, and made her way over to where he sat.
"Hello," she greeted with a warm smile. Conversation behind her made Kitty glance into Ororo's temporary office. The two made brief eye contact before Ororo gave her full attention back to, who Kitty assumed to be, the boy's parents. "I'm Kitty," she said to the boy. "What's your name?"
