It was a really, really good thing he'd taken that extensive bath if the first person he meant was talking about tracking the lab people like a bloodhound.
He began rubbing his arm again, "Yeeeaaaahhhh... I thought it would be a good idea to get a shower and clean my clothes before I came here. Otherwise they might think my power was repelling things with body odor." Doug laughed at himself, a smile finally spreading across his face as he started to feel more relaxed. Something about the girl being more than ready and willing to go out and crash the party the scientists and military personnel were having at their base with other mutants made him feel better rather than more apprehensive how volatile she obviously was.
"If I could remember, I'd tell you. But after getting out I was so focused on getting away that I didn't even pay attention to where I was until about a week later and by that time I was in Kentucky. I think it was probably somewhere in Nebraska or Oklahoma or Kansas. Someplace with a lot of wide open space. I didn't cross two mountain ranges, so it wasn't past the Rockies... and yeah. It bothers me a little."
Doug stopped walking for a moment and shrugged his bag off his shoulder so he could pull his jacket off the left arm and hold it up for her to see. It took a moment of concentrating, but the orange and black lines appeared quickly enough. The watch flexed itself and stood up as Cypher held his hand out for it to climb to.
"This is Warlock. Say hello, Warlock," The little spider-like robot that had been sitting on his wrist bowed to Laura from the palm of his hand and an electronic buzz like the dial of a fax machine emitted from it. "He can't produce human speech yet. I'm still working on getting that into his programming. His language is really complicated and tied to my nervous system, so I can't risk big, drastic changes to it. Have to take it slow, ya know."
