"Stormy?" Jamie's smile said he was trying not to laugh. "Never pegged her as someone who went for pet names. Oh well, you can only know so much about a person, right?" He really didn't care if the Cajun knew her better than he did himself or not. This was sort of like a testing period. See what he could get away with, and with whom, and whose buttons were the easiest to push. It was all a game to him right now. "Yeah, I've known her for about, oh, seven, eight years? Her hair was a lot shorter when I met her, So was her temper."
Glancing toward the girl, Jamie could easily tell he'd upset her by his comment on the situation, but didn't understand she'd taken his second comment as a personal jab. It hadn't meant to come out that way, but Jamie was an open mouth, insert foot kinda guy. He didn't really think about what he said until after it was already spoken.
"Didn't mean to interrupt anything," he said at length. "Just came in to get some food. Nice to meet ya." No names had been exchanged and only veiled conversation had been shared. Not really the best of meetings.
