The bug had to be lured away and there was a whole other wing. She didn't know where Terry was or even if her roommate was okay. Maybe if she lured the bug away she could check their room. With Theresa powerless, it left her a hell of a lot more vulnerable.
Running at the bug, she ducked when it swung giant arms, taking note of the blood at the end of his sharp claws and trying to ignore the dread it caused. "Come on, handsome," she teased. Running around him, he let out a piercing cry and turned to follow her. He was not nearly as quick as she was, which made her slow only enough to antagonize him. As soon as she could, she ran through the wall into her room to find Terry's bed empty. This was only good in that Kitty didn't find her in bed and killed.
Dashing back out into the hall, she saw Beast being thrown around like a sack of potatoes. Bobby was there too, and there were others up ahead, male students. She wanted to scream at them to remember what they'd been taught, about where to go and what to do but that didn't happen. The bug mutant took a swing at the distracted Kitty and sent her flying into the wall. She was quick enough to phase though it and ran back out just as speedily. But he was waiting for her. He'd seen what she could do and was prepared. She'd solidified as soon as she was back out in the hall, and one of his razor sharp talons stabbed through her midsection, the other coming down to rake a long slice in a diagonal line down her face.
Instinct made Kitty phase so that she fell free of the talon, but the pain prevented her from keeping her intangibility for long. She hit the floor with a thud and curled in on herself.
