"Be that as it may," said Ororo with a shake of her head to the tea, "the last time we were face to face, you were trying to kill us. So I'm sure you can appreciate my not inviting you to stay with us." And she wouldn't, not until Erik proved he could be trusted, or Ororo had a change of heart, or both. More than likely, both would need to happen. Her trust of him would not be so easily earned.
"Don't think that just because you and this girl share the same type of mutation that I should immediately recognize that you're my only solution. Because I don't." She knew how bad Lorna's headaches were and recognized the progression they would take if things were left to themselves. But she also hadn't had time to discuss anything with Hank yet, either.
"How about you let me worry about my students." She stood now, one hand on her hip, the other on the back of the chair. "If I need your help, I'm sure it won't be too hard to find you." Better to find him later if she and Hank couldn't come up with a solution than invite him in now and trust he'd play by the rules. "I'm sure you know the way out."
