Re: a little bit later...
"Why don't you understand?" she yelled, arrogance turning back into anger. "This school is a joke. Do you think that we'll actually be accepted someday by society? Do you think people'll have a miraculous change of heart an' we won't have to worry about hidin' out no more?" Marie was there. She was hurt and she was battling with thoughts and ideas that were so strong that it was impossible for her to know if they were truly hers or not. "I don't wanna be like this for the rest of my life."
She looked down as if ashamed. "I'm sorry for all the trouble I've caused. They just made it all sound so easy." When Rogue finally looked up her gaze settled on Emma and the kitten she held. "Didn't know there were pets here." As though killing children was fine but animals were off bounds. She muttered another apology while the fires went out with nothing left to fuel them. The water didn't do much for Rogue's mental state, but she was beginning to feel the chill of being wet and the wintry breeze that shifted easily through the broken windows and damaged walls. Casually, she reached over to touch the wall. Ice spread from her fingers outward and upward, effectively freezing the sprinkler system so it no longer rained down upon her.
Quietly she admitted, "I loved Xavier. He became the father I lost when he found out I was...this." Her brow furrowed and she lifted her hands to rake them through her wet hair. "An' I hate him just as much as I love him. I don't know what to think." She tried to back down the hall even further but only succeeded in hitting her back to the wall. Instead of turning and running, she crumbled back down into the curled up position Remy had found her in. Only with less arms.
