Re: a little bit later...
"I am a monster," she growled, looking at the floor and not directly at Remy. Her small frame moved as she inhaled and exhaled, breathing as though she'd just run a race. "We're both monsters." For a long moment, she didn't move. She just stood there staring at the floor as though lost in thought, or forgetting anyone else was there with her. After a minute, she finally lifted her gaze to Remy and found Emma there now as well. If the addition to the group alarmed her at all, it didn't show. Her head tilted to the side. She was not longer crying, but there was pain in her expression.
"When I was a kid I used to be wicked good at basketball." I never played basketball. "My dad used to tell me I would be in the NBA when I grew up. That man was never so proud of me. And then, in middle school, I got shouldered by this kid who was, like, twice my size. I was small for my age, you know? Anyway, he ran right into me and I fell flat on my back. I was so ticked off that I ran right at him and smashed him into the wall. A kid my size shouldn't have been able to do that." She lifted her two extra arms, claws sliding into her skin and away. "And then these things came and my father wanted nothing to do with me. Do you have any idea how that feels?"
Rogue looked at her hands, at the hands that didn't belong to her. "Don't you ever just want to not be what you are?" Lifting her head, her eyes roamed over what was left of the wall, the structure of the ceiling, the windows. The smell of the burning mutant down the hall was now drifting their way. It turned her stomach and stirred something malicious inside of her. A sneer appeared on her face and she shook her head. "And there's this fucking place. It's like a breeding ground. Don't think I don't know. If we hadn't had a psychic headmaster things would have been a lot different. I always suspected Pete of having a hard on for Kitty."
She sighed, looking at the two one last time. "We were always held back. All of us. Nobody wanted us to know what we could really do with our powers because then.." She laughed. "Then things would get really fucking crazy." Rogue started to back down the hallway, lifting her arms in a grand shrug. "Xavier's dead. Far as I'm concerned, all of his weak little followers should die with him." She shot fire all around her. The hall became like a blazing circus hoop. "I told you to stay away from me."
