First Floor
With other people rushing up to the roof, Rogue decided to start from the bottom and work her way up, just to make sure there weren't injured people or stragglers who needed to be taken care of. Windows were blown out all over the mansion, and through them she could see people outside fighting. The blonde woman was recognizable as someone Rogue had seen before, all the others were new to her, but appeared to be fighting on the same side she was fighting on herself. Satisfied with the odds, she ran down the hall where someone was screaming.
There was a woman trying to drag a child into one of the classrooms and it was the child who was calling for help. Rogue's borrowed claws came tearing out of her hands and she growled as she leaped at the woman. But she was too late. Somehow they'd disappeared. Rogue flung herself into the classroom but heard the scream again farther down the hall. Dashing back out from the classroom, the woman with the child saw her and, panicking, shoved the child at Rogue before disappearing through the doorway again.
"Yer all right," Rogue told the boy. "Go on down here to the tunnels. You know where they are? Good. Go on, now. I'll take care of everythin'." The boy needed no further instructions. He bolted down the hallway and disappeared. Rogue turned to sniff around the doorway, become familiar with her scent. She appeared three doors away but disappeared as soon as she saw Rogue. Why wasn't she going to another floor? Unless this one had been assigned to her.
The woman appeared in the doorway behind her and threw herself at Rogue, tackling her from behind before Rogue had time to react. She locked her arms around Rogue's neck to squeeze. Unfortunately for her, she never got to that point.
As soon as the woman's hands came in contact with Rogue's face, she froze. The feeling was familiar to Rogue, the sensation of a soft electrocution. Memories and images unfamiliar and mingled flooded through her mind. The woman fell to the floor and Rogue simply stood there for a moment, too inundated with hatred and self-loathing to move. She turned on the woman, her expression angry and filled with sorrow. "Do you really hate bein' what you are that much?"
But the woman had curled into a ball, crying. For some reason, the sight disgusted her. She crouched and sneered down at the powerless mutant. "What we are is nothing to be ashamed of. We should be reviled, not looked down upon. You want to end your miserable life, fine. Pathetic excuse for a mutant." Rogue turned away and walked down the hall. When the woman started to get up, Rogue turned quickly and shot fire down at her, engulfing her in a mass of flames. From there, she went on to see where else she could cause a little damage.
