The objects slid slowly down the side of the door before finally giving out with a soft 'whump' as they hit the floor. The usher gulped and pulled his arm back, cradling it to his chest and watching the other objects with wide eyes. Nathaniel calmly picked up his coat and tucked it over his arm before trying the handle. Finding the door now unlocked, he gently pushed it open.
The expected vision of someone - anyone - in the space beyond was not there and his frown deepened as he saw the chandelier begin it's rise. He had missed the entire auction scene. The door which had so causiously been pushed open, was pulled back as he stepped into the box and looked behind it.
The girl was easy enough to spot, her street clothes contrasting greatly with his much more expensive and appropriate dark tailored suit. A moment later he pushed the door back to cover her, looking at the usher as he did so, "It seems to be empty. Perhaps a power surge created an electromagnetic feedback. You should have someone look into that. After the show."
The usher, for his part, glanced inside at the empty space, completely accepting Nathaniel's assurance that there was nothing behind the door and apologizing profusely before leaving.
With the other man gone, the doctor moved the door back, almost closing it but not quite. His hand still on it and clearly blocking the girl's only logical escape route.
A single eyebrow rose in question at the odd sight before him, "I sincerely hope you weren't intending to try and rob me, girl.'
