She smiled at the Harry Potter comment and nodded. Bobby was right in that Xavier's had always seemed like something magical. Almost like it shouldn't exist. "I will always remember my first day here," she said softly, hands going into her pockets for warmth. "That ice rose you gave me. You know John told me you did that for all the new girls?" She looked up at him, quirking an eyebrow in a teasing manner. "'Course I specifically remember him showin' off with that little ball of flame you quickly froze, too. What is it with boys always tryin' to impress the new girl?"
Her first days at the school were some of her favorite. Out of everyone there her own age, Bobby was her first friend. When he went on to become her first love, he solidified a place in her heart. News of the others had her nodding, glad to know they were doing all right for themselves. She did miss Piotr. Toward the end of her time at Xavier's, the two of them had formed a better friendship than they'd ever had the couple of years prior.
As the memorial stones came into view, Rogue felt a sadness settle in her heart. If Xavier were still alive he wouldn't chide her for staying away. He'd have greeted her the same way Ororo had. The same way Bobby had. All this time she'd kept her distance out of fear for the damage she'd done. Now to know the only person who held her in the wrong was herself was more than a little humbling.
"Bobby," Rogue said after a moment, "I owe you an apology." She stopped before the stones but turned to face Bobby instead. "It don't seem like you're mad at me for the way I left, for lyin' to you about so many things, but I still need to say I'm sorry, even if it's only for me." She shrugged heavily. "I felt like you'd be better off without me."
