"That's me... life on the edge and such. See... She knew I was going, I wasn't supposed to be back for a bit but my family was a little too much like my family for me to stay any longer..."
Bobby wasn't overly complex emotionally. He didn't want there to be any issues between them, so he was willing to just not make certain things into issues that he held on to. He could hold a grudge forever if he chose to, but he didn't have any grudges with her. He had some regrets, but he was happy to see her and happier that she had come back on her own terms. He sat down in one of the student chairs.
He thought it was neat that she had made her way on her own and seemed to have done ok. "Cool, I can get some professionally mixed cocktails now... It's what this place has lacked for so long." He grinned and then was pulled back a little by the Kitty question.
"I've been good... I did college.. I'm a CPA now.. I do finances for the school!" He put way too much enthusiasm into being an accountant. He was a dork that way. turning your body into ice was one thing, but being an accountant for him was something to be excited about. It was a normal thing that normal people do.
"Kitty's doing well. She teaches dance now... has a place in town. She and I never... Nothing really developed with us... I mean... she's probably my best friend here at this place, but I've got a lot of friends here... and always room for more." All he could remember is what she had thought so long ago, and it wasn't true then. He didn't think it was, but then something seemed like it was developing between him and Kitty, but mostly it had just been him. When a lady needs a friend that's not a boyfriend, she need look no further than Bobby Drake. It was the story of his life, but he was glad that he and Kitty had their friendship, it was better for both of them than had they really tried to force a romance.
