Nathaniel, for his part, was not very comfortable with the idea of being so vulnerable. It took another moment of pulling his breath before he could stand without having to bite back a groan. The girl hit much harder than he had thought a child of her size capable of.
He gulped down another hiss and held his back as straight as pride and pain would allow before merely nodding at her words. He would rather not break down further in front of her and some breathing room for the both of them would help. Nathaniel wasn't actually sure what had happened but he had probably deserved the injury and he could properly attempt to go back over the jumbled thoughts while she was gone for a few hours.
