Re: Fast forward to New Years Eve
She was trying to sleep. Trying. Except when a person has such enhanced hearing and she's in a place with dozens of other people staying up to ring in the New Year with shouts and celebrations, it was like trying to sleep inside a radio. She grabbed the pillow out from under head and and pressed it down hard over her face.. No use. So maybe sleep wasn't something she was allowed tonight. Fine, there were other things she could do to pass the time. Beside her, Nathaniel moved and she realized she wasn't the only one unable to sleep.
She swung her feet around and sat on the edge of the bed, silently seething. Until, that is, Nathaniel spoke.
She lifted her head, giving him a look that suggested she might suspect he was on drugs. "What?" The lack of clothing didn't bother her as much as it probably should have. She'd seen older men in much less. "I'm not sure what kind of mushrooms you ate before bed, but I sure as hell don't dance, and I'm not Lady anybody. I don't care what i said about what you could call me."
Getting up, she reached for her clothes and started for the bathroom. "I'm going out for awhile. All this noise is giving me a migraine."
