Re: We'll roll with it ...
Rictor was good at casual. Oh yes, a master of the nonchalant. He shook her hand. "Julio Richter. It wouldn't be lazy, except that I made it years ago." He gestured to the peacock mask. "Nice feathers. I wasn't calling your lazy, by the way. In fact, I think you manage to hit a nice middle ground between these guys - who look like they came off the set of 'Labyrinth' - and, well, me."
The food on the tables was tempting. But he'd have to take the mask off. He'd give it another 30 minutes or so before tossing the mask and admitting to himself his true purpose for attending any party - food. He'd have to distract himself.
"I think we've met before, briefly. Well, just about everyone here has at least a passing familiarity with each other, right? Even in a place as big as the mansion, statistically speaking you're gonna cross paths eventually. Which can be awkward. And I hate awkward. The only thing that's worse is running into someone you know at the supermarket, and having to greet each other over and over.
"SO, I made a list of things to talk about. Figured it'd be handy. Lemme see ... " He pulled a crumpled bit of paper out of his pocket. "How's about this ... Who's your favorite cartoon character, and why?"
