"I was being polite." JP chuckled a bit to himself, fishing through the layers of noodles in the container to pluck out another piece of shrimp. He had the bad habit of munching away at all of the meet and mushrooms first whenever he got lo mien, which made it slightly disappointing when there wasn't any more to be had after a little while. It made eating the rest a little bitter sweet. Still, that never seemed to stop him, and it looked like things weren't going to be any different now.
"I can imagine." JP looked a little disappointed as he thought of how tough leaving the safe haven of the school was for kids who were obviously mutants and couldn't hide it. He'd seen the aftermath of some of the more serious cases during his travels, and the staff were full of stories of things they'd seen and heard over the years as well. It was a scary place out there for some people.
"Well, you can come back just in time to help us get rid of all the Christmas decorations. Won't that be fun?" He offered a cheeky grin, trying to keep things as light as possible so as not to scare the poor kid about what the next few days might bring for him at home. "The tree is already starting to make a mess so I'm not looking forward to seeing it in a few days. If it's anything like last year we'll be finding pine needles for months in places they have no logical right to be in."
