“That’s good. Think mon père’d be upset if I didn’t come to some of the festivities.” The odd party he could skip out on, but there were some more formal rituals that took place during the holiday season that he would have had a much harder time missing. Plus, there was the annual attempt at peaceful conferencing with the Assassins that he definitely didn’t want to be absent for. If only to smile sweetly at Julien Boudreaux while the man quietly plotted Remy’s death from his little corner on the other side of the room. “Non, I was actually just thinking that you’re probably secretly trying to lure me away so you can kill me quietly.” He nodded sagely. “Don’t think I’m not on to you.”
He was pretty sure that she wasn’t trying to kill him. For one, it was an elaborate bunch of coincidences that even the best of the assassins he knew couldn’t hope to pull off. None of them knew about his affiliation with Xavier, and to his knowledge there was no way to scan his mind well enough to find it out through use of someone with psychic abilities. If she was trying to kill him, though… at least it would be fun.
He just smiled when she flinched. It wasn’t exactly surprising that she was a little bit scared of the movement, but considering the fact that their hands were still touching and nothing was happening, he figured it was safe. Laughing, he shook his head. “Now, I don’t know If that’s a good or a bad. On the one hand, I’d sure like to be able to say I saw somethin’ like that happen… but on the other, I’m not so sure I’d like to have to clean up the puddle. ”
