"Non, it's wonderful," he replied, nodding. "Y' just sometimes need a rest from cousins who're well into they thirties but think they still eight years old." It was a little bit of an exaggeration, and not entirely the problem... there was a big guild gathering that evening and as much as Remy loved his surrogate family, he didn't want to spend the holiday standing around with a bunch of thieves and con-men, comparing notes.
"Good old Grinch. They say he's bad news, but he's always there when you need him..." Remy trailed off with a smile. He nodded at Anna's response to the question about Ororo. So the woman was a teacher or principal or something like that. That did explain the air of authority. Most principals seemed to think of themselves as above things, and she certainly had ignored the mess in the bar like someone who was used to some degree of chaos.
He waved his hand to dismiss her thank you as they walked, then added, "You're welcome, but it was nothin'." Wasn't like he could have ever possibly justified not sticking around to help, or slinking out the back door and letting the man kill or control more people. She apologized for not calling him earlier, making it clear that it wasn't because he was a mutant, and he smiled slightly. Truth be told, he wasn't sure either way. In fact, he'd worn his contacts again to their meeting just to be safe (though he wasn't positive that they were the same color as they had been last time), and wasn't planning on bringing it up unless she did. Which... she did.
He'd managed to skirt the issue a while with Ororo, but Anna had seen it happen. There was no real way for him to completely deny that he'd managed to chuck a fistful of exploding peanuts at a man.
"Well," he started, scooping up a rock from the path in front of them and rolling it in his palm, "everything's got energy in it. This rock's got energy in it, it just ain't being used. I can change that stored energy into kinetic energy," he looked down at the rock as it started to glow pink, then softly tossed it to the path ahead of them. "Makes it go boom."
The rock hit the ground and exploded, and he held out his hands. "Ta-da." Slipping one hand back in his pocket, he added, "That weren't at a full charge, out of respect, but... that's pretty much it."
He completely left out the other powers he had, as they had a tendency to stop working when the target was aware of them. Not that he had any intention of ever using them on her, but it was best to hedge his bets.
