Drabble Day: Prompt No. 9
Okay, time for a shift change, I think, so [info]lilithilien will take over with the prompts after this one and I'll grab some shut-eye. More than a third of the way through, guys! You've been fantastic! Can't wait to see what else the day will bring, and to go back and reread what's already been written. So much sparkle!

No. 9 is another picture prompt:

(Shhhhh, we needed one with her in it! She wouldn't get any love otherwise, unless [info]graspthethorn drops by!)

I'm so sorry for this.
“Mama!” Celine wailed. “I don’t understand, Mama! Why do they hate me?”

Celine pet Zoe’s hair, trying to hold her own tears in. “Because they’re jealous, chère. Of our beauty and strength.”

Zoe’s wails tapered off a little at a time, replaced by a pout that made Celine proud. “I hate them, Mama, I hate them! All they care about are those stupid boys!”

Celine stroked her hair lovingly. “I know. But… you know, the boys aren’t stupid. They’re… they’re really quite pretty.”

Zoe pulled back from her mother with a gasp. “You’re one of them! One of those… Eskimos!

You are my heroine now. You took it upon you to save our honour.

And I like the mother-daughter dynamic, too. With this daughter, Celine managed to stay rather sane, relatively so.

d-rama!
Life just isn’t fair! And no-one…no-one understands her.

Zoe settled into her mother’s hug but only because crying into her clothes was more destructive, more emotionally rewarding and easier than finding tissues.

Her father was…an idiot.

Her mother was on her *sigh* what, twentieth relationship?!

Florian was more interested in his teammates than her.

All of these people, complaining about their petty worries and trifling little problems about some stupid fry stand and the centre – ohmygod the centre is so boring why do people even go there! Nothing happens in Essen unless it’s to her.

Life.just.sucks.

And the world doesn't evolve around Zoe. This just sucks, doesn't it?

Naughty teenagers. I have to love them. Nicely done.

LOLLLLLLLLSSS It's about time Zoe's perspective got heard properly. <33333 And tbh if I was Ingo and Celine's daughter I'd have issues with it as well.

Blatant misuse of prompt is blatant. My theme will not be denied.
Sometimes Lars thinks about Oliver. And then, because he has to, he thinks about Celine and Zoe. And then he stops thinking about them because he really never paid any attention to them and doesn’t know anything about them and is honest-to-God clueless about who the love of his life is living with now.

Sometimes he thinks about getting in touch with Oliver. Just to see how he is, make sure he’s happy. He doesn’t because really he’d be doing it to see how he is himself and he’s not sure if he could convince Oliver with, “Sure, I’m happy.”

I bow in awe of your blatant misuse of prompt. This is awesome. And kinda heartbreaking too, when I start worrying about Lars' emotional state. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?

Motherly advice

Zoé was young still. Too young yet to enjoy the tranquility of a still pool, broken only by bubbles from the fishes whispering underneath; too young to appreciate the calming rush of a brook that smoothed stones to tickle the bellies of salmon. She could not fault her daughter. It had taken Céline many years to reach this point, and many tears she had wasted before she realised that water from her eyes would not nurture a fish.

“There are other fish in the sea,” Céline said, knowing her daughter would only stop crying once she took that advice literally.

"many tears she had wasted before she realised that water from her eyes would not nurture a fish" so Confucius said. Pearls of wisdom scattered before swine...er, salmon. You crack me up!

Earth Mother
"It's okay, cherie. Maman is much better now, and I will not be sweating always. You see, this happens once in every woman's life. If I am not sad, you should not be either. I have already proven my fertility and given life back to Mother Earth – and one day you too will bear strong babies so the marvellous circle of life will continue like a matriarchy of stately, beautiful fat manatees. Zoé, don't cry! I said all is well. If it cheers you up, we can have an empowering tree-planting ritual with your menstrual blood. Won't that be fun?"
