Drabble Day: Prompt No. 3
Eeeeeee, you guys rock! So many fabulous drabbles to devour already! *rolls in the sparkle* Keep up the awesome!

We're into the third hour, and...

Prompt No. 3 is: Bavouche.

ETA: That would be Bavouche as in Show's make-up computer game that Deniz/Tim/Nina/Vanessa used to play all the time. If you need a reminder (or distraction! look! Bulle!), it's featured as a supporting character to Deniz's amazing powers of straightness and Vanessa's elaborate WTF faces here:

Game Over
Sometimes dating a seventeen-year-old makes Roman feel terribly, terribly ancient.

"Left, left, left, LEFT, arrrrgh!"

Deniz moves the controls with his whole body, leaning all the way left as he manoeuvres, and ends up halfway in Roman's lap. Roman reaches out and slides a hand down Deniz' bare arm; the ridiculous little figure on screen promptly stumbles straight into the jaws of a carnivorous lizard. Or dragon, it's hard to tell. Roman doesn't care.

"Your dad's left," he murmurs in Deniz's ear. "We can stop playing now." Deniz shivers and turns, seeking his mouth, and Roman smiles. Or START playing.

AWW, that's so lovely! Reminds me of the early days of show and the innocent beginnings of DeRo love, with Deniz still being such a kid.

I miss early Deniz and Roman so much. And I know this drabble is supposed to make me happy but to be honest it makes me sad. :(

But awesome drabble!!!!

Re: Game Over
*cuddles wee!Deniz* I love that he gets so into the game that he doesn't notice when his dad's not there anymore. And I dig the repetition of "left left left" with both the game and Marian.

And because this era calls for this icon... *stares*

This is really beautiful, and playful, and somehow bittersweet. I adore it. Just want to jump into the memory and cuddle Deniz.

So very bittersweet. Cute and fun but kind of sad.

Who's winning?
Vanessa hears the stupid buzz-buzz of some random computer game as she walks down the hall of her college accommodation. That sound, and the obligatory, frantic pressing on the controllers, always takes her back to Essen, to the room she shared with Nina.

It’s weird how much they got wrong then. Her lying at the foot of the bed, both of them listening to Deniz and whoever playing Bavouche late into the night. Both secretly sighing to themselves, daring themselves to be the one to go out and join him, to perch on the arm chair and ask, “Who’s winning?”

Girls! Don't go out there! Screw the Deniz (or rather, don't!) and stay together!

And awwww I love the bittersweet pang of how the sounds twig her memory. *cuddles her*

The Games we Play
Roman waved Florian away dismissively. “Square. Square. Cross – Got it.”

Fucking reconciliation; there had to be a better (more relevant) way to walk a mile in Deniz’s sweaty trainers.

“No! No! That’s the Cavern of Despair!”

Florian sighed – Roman too.

The only thing that made this better was knowing that Deniz had to caterwaul with Annette to The Best of Broadway.

Roman chuckled to himself and Florian sighed - again.

“This game is a classic! I can’t believe you’ve never played it.”

Roman waved him away again and his character blindly walked into a black hole.

Cavern of Despair indeed.

Re: The Games we Play
Haha, I love this! I can so see Deniz putting Ro and Flo through this with all his "family is family after all" position. And of course, Roman would accept it, but only under certain conditions, lol!

Oh man, I wished the stupid writers of show would have realized how much good entertainment they could have squeezed out of these protagonists.

Because I haz a theme.
“Mate you are so fucking shit at this game.”
“Fuck off L’Arse, I’m so wasted I’m seeing 3 of each player, what’s your excuse?”
“I’m not at all wasted. And its 3am.”
“Yeah well you’re a maudlin fucking drunk. Just keep playing.”
...
“Where did this game even come from?”
“Deniz left it here.”
...
“Can you stop elbowing me when you turn corners d’you reckon?”
“I don’t know, can you stop breathing all over me with your fucking beer-reeking breath.”
“For fuck sake, why did you even come over if you’re just gonna bitch at me?”
“I don’t know.”

München
(It took me longer to count the words than writing the thing - every word-counter on the web gets a different result. Last time I counted myself, there were hundred!)

Bavouche erinnert ihn an München.

Wunderbare Idee!

Love, Deniz thought, would be much easier if it were like a game of Bavouche. There were good guys and bad guys, right actions and wrong actions. There was a clear objective, and the price of losing was intangible, false; didn't twist in his gut like guilt or shame or anger or lust.

Most importantly, there was always a do-over. You could learn from your mistakes and improve accordingly. No one held grudges, or judged you. No one threatened to disown you in a game of Bavouche.

He wanted something inconsequential, and he was slowly learning that that was impossible.

Oh man, Giorgia, this is a gorgeous painful peek into the Deniz Öztürk brain. There was so much going on in that teenaged head, all so confusing and full of pitfalls and danger. And Bavouche was his safe place! I love it so much!
