Lita wasn't sure that Grimm would take her hand, but he did with the smile that must be his trademark. She really couldn't understand how someone so gorgeous and intelligent wasn't dating someone. However she didn't linger on the idea. He was here with her tonight and it felt right. Like his hand in hers, fingers entwined. They both still held their cigarettes in their other hands. He didn't hesitate as he told her "Let's go." She took a drag of her cigarette and started to walk down the light streets of New Orleans. The easy way she navigated the side streets belied how well she knew them. She wasn't a local anymore, but NOLA was as much home as any place had ever been. They walked in companionable silence, and it wasn't awkward as they kept stealing glances at each other, almost as if they were both afraid the other would disappear. She felt like she was dreaming, and the magic of the night only added to the surreal feel of their encounter.
As they turned down a narrow cobblestone alley, one of the above ground cemeteries loomed ahead of them. In theory she probably shouldn't take him to a cemetery, with her gift, but she could ignore the ghosts in a place like this. Most ghosts there were shades, barely aware of themselves of those around them. And she had spent many a night hiding in this cemetery before she had found Loa alive.
As they walked through the elaborate archway, she looked at him with a shy smile. "It's darker here then anywhere else in the city." Expertly she picked her way along the rows of concrete graves and mausoleums. They continued to hold hands, she had abandoned her finished cigarette in a bin a while ago. The further they walked from the entrance the deeper the darkness in the still night was. The only light was the waning moon above them and the stars which weren't as bright as they could be outside the city limits, but much brighter then in the downtown of NOLA. She let go of his hand a little reluctantly and climbed up on a broken piece of concrete and then up onto the roof of a mausoleum. She turned to help him, but he was already up next to her. Settling on the cool marble, Lita pointed up at the sky.
"And there is Cetus." She moved so she was sitting with her back to him, so he could follow her movements in the heavens. "And there is Taurus, Aries, and Virgo." Glancing over her shoulder she watched his face as he gazed at the stars with her. In the moonlight, he was even more breathtaking and she found she wanted to run her fingers along his perfect cheekbones and that chiseled jawline. She wondered if his lips were as soft as they looked. And immediately felt silly, being a virgin who had never been kissed, who would probably embarrass herself if kissing was to actually happen. So she looked away, her cheeks flaming at the thought.
"And of course the constellations are different at different times of the year." She knew he already knew this, but she needed to say something to cover her blush in the starlight.
